Places Where I Have Told Stories

  • I have provided storytelling at a wide and diverse range of places such as:

COMING OUT OF LOCKDOWN STORYTELLING

  • I am pleased to be providing stories once again, for Barking Folk Festival, (in collaboration with Summer of Festivals), this year due to the restrictions it is online, instead of being outdoors in the Abbey Park. Family Stories for four consecutive Saturday mornings, as part of the festival celebrations.
  • Proud to have been invited into the International project, ‘Carrying The Songs’, which is actually a Storytelling Project. It was started by artist Alannah Robins from Ireland, as part of Interface Inagh, a Science and Creative artists collective. Alannah, recorded a young person telling a 5 minute story. Since then the story has been passed from one storyteller to another storyteller, via the internet. More than 250 storytellers have passed it on. The story has travelled around the UK, being told in English, Welsh and Gaelic, then into much of Europe, as far east as Turkey. Then it came back to the UK, moved around the UK again, before heading off to Scandinavia. The story has changed many times, like the old game ‘Chinese Wispers’, this was expected, and is part of the idea. At the time of me writing it is in Finland, waiting to be passed on.
  • Big Hat Bush Camp, a large Surrey based Bushcraft Experience provider. I was a lead Instructor for four separate weeks, teaching Bushcraft skills to children.  During the four weeks I ran a daily Storytelling Workshop, for the children. (all with Covid safe practice).
  • ‘World Storytelling Cafe’, I was requested to co-perform online, a themed storytelling of fairy tales, with my friend Su Squire, for a Peterborough based group for children with Learning Disabilities.
  • Crick Crack Club, ‘Fairy Tale Confessional’. I was delighted to have been invited to collaborate with the London and Bristol based Crick Crack Club on a storytelling and art project. I worked online with Artist, Sophie Herxheimer.  I shared with Sophie one of my earliest memories from childhood of a fairy tale, Little Red Riding Hood, along with some other personal childhood memories. As I spoke with Sophie, she began to paint with brush and ink, my words, imaginings and memories onto paper. How cool is that? The painting  join’s a gallery of similar works, that a few other storytellers have collaborated with Sophie in the same process. Thus creating multiple voices, memories and images.
  • ‘Wednesday Storytelling Online’ club Woodbridge, Suffolk. Sharing a story with a group of storytellers and an online audience.
  • Mencap Chelmsford. Two separate evenings of online ‘ Zoom’  Storytelling for the students, one for the adolescents and one for the adults.
